We visited our friends Dave and Kathy in their brand new house a few weeks ago in St. Louis. We had such a good time with them! AnnCarter fell in love with Kathy instantly. She also became a even more of a pro at walking (something she'd only been doing for about a week at the time this video was taken). Here, she and Marshall are playing chase. She was loving it!

AnnCarter's Favortie Piece of Clothing
So as of this week, this is AnnCarter's favorite piece of clothing. It is kind of like a blanky or something to her, though if it's out of sight she does not ask for it. But when it is in sight, she immediately starts "uh-uhing" until she gets it and then she tries to put it on and is so happy once it's actually around her. She's never had a favorite thing to wear before. It's pretty cute. I suppose she has an affinity for all the pink and colorful scenes on it. My mom bought this for her in Lancaster, PA when we were visiting this fall. We had almost left the store without it, but I'm glad we didn't. Turns out that it was a pretty good buy.

Marshall's Birthday (March 24th)
Our sister-in-law, Stephanie, made this cake for Marshall. Isn't it incredible? Marshall wanted a cheesy horse cake and this is what she came up with. It is a replica of his book cover modeling debut :-)

AnnCarter's first "real" steps
Marshall was playing with AnnCarter the other night (Feb. 22 I believe) and all of sudden she started to take steps toward him. We'd been seeing signs for a few weeks in that she'd begun standing and balancing for long periods of time without holding on to other objects, and earlier that day I'd watched her figure out how to stand up from the a sitting position on the ground (before, I'd only seen her stand up from a chair). After this video, I sat on the floor too and we had her walking from me to Marshall and vice versa. She thought it was SO fun. Even when she'd fall forward a bit, she'd squeal with delight. And, all of her cousins and her aunt and uncle were there to cheer her on. They were all so excited for her!
After about 10 minutes of her going back an forth between Marshall and I, we decided to see if she'd walk on her own without us. We stood her on her feet and off she went. She walked all the way from the kitchen to the front door...amazing how quickly she put it all together! So fun. She's still a bit wobbly and goes between walking and crawling, but you can tell she's eager to practice her new skill.
Just so I remember later in life...she was exactly one year and one week old when she took her first steps.
